1000th Comment Contest - $50 Cash Giveaway

On to the details for my first cash giveaway contest - so far, 847 comments have been posted to my blog. Over the past 4 months, that is equals about 200 comments per month.

Contest PART 1: Obviously, I will hit my 1000th posted comment this month, and to whoever posts the 1000th comment (excluding me and trackbacks) you will win:

  • $25 CASH via PayPal
  • Review of your blog
  • 1 hour of my graphic design services (i.e., new header, buttons, banner, etc.)
  • Contest PART 2: I am going to hold a random drawing for anyone who writes a blog post about this contest. The winner will receive:

  • $25 CASH via PayPal
  • Review of your blog
  • 1 hour of my graphic design services (i.e., new header, buttons, banner, etc.)
  • The post must be by itself and cannot be added to any other post.

Your post must contain a link back to my blog, this post, and also mention that I am giving away $25 CASH to the 1000th commentator and $25 CASH to anyone who blogs about this contest. Here is an example of what I am looking for:

Nate Whitehill is holding 2 separate cash giveaway contests this month. He is awarding $25 CASH and a blog review to whoever posts his 1000th comment. He is also randomly drawing a name for another $25 CASH and blog review to anyone who blogs about this contest. This my entry. You can enter too, just visit his blog about business, blog and web development.

You can copy that text exactly or make up your own. Just make sure you link to my blog, this post, and mention that I am giving $25 and a blog review cash to the 1000th commentator and $25 cash and a blog review to whoever blogs about the contest.

This contest is open to everyone. If you have blog - you can enter. It doesn’t matter where you are or what language your blog is in. You can enter one part of the contest or both. If you are entering part 2 of the contest, make sure you e-mail me the link to your blog post.

This contest is being held until I receive my 1000th comment, which will definitely be sometime this month. Afterwards, the 1000th commentator will receive $25 cash via PayPal and I will hold the drawing for all those that blogged about the contest.

Update - both winners will also receive a blog review and 1 hour of my graphic design services for their blog.

Oooh, John Chow style evilness. Nice idea, though. Congrats on the near-1000 comments! I’ll try to come up with a way to promote your contest, but not make it look spammy (slightly off topic for my blog). Too many of these contests are obvious greed, but you deserve a little link love.

Sounds like a great idea, I don’t have a blog but I’ll still be commenting.

I love contests!!! Although I never win, with the exception of the John Chow pen, I have pretty horrible luck. But I love the competition!! I’m in both!!

Hey Nate - as you know I am not a fan of offering incentives to encourage people to post or comment as I feel it is rather short sighted. I am sure in the short term, comments will pick up as a result - just make sure you have a plan for maintaining them for when the competition ends!

Hey, I read your post and I agree with the majority of statements. This contest is not designed so much to massively increase my total number of comments, as it is to thank my loyal readers for participating and leaving comments - both winners will be essentially randomly chosen - there is no “competition.”

What an evil way to get people to comment on your blog. I am an RSS feeder and I actually had to open your site and look at your ads!! I LOVE it! Consider this my entry and I will start preparing your design work! Haha, keep up the good work.
