Recent Domain Name Sales

Over the past few weeks, it has been clear that the domain name aftermarket is as strong as its even been. Recent domain name sales have shown that TDL’s (domain extensions) other than .coms are selling for high prices. For example, sportsbook.mobi sold two weeks ago for $129,800 USD. Another domain, Merlin.net, sold on Sedo for $30,000 USD. Clearly, the market for TDL’s other than .com’s is starting to take off.
My domain brokering business, Dot Com Moguls, owns a collection of about 160 domains right now. We have been testing out different ways of selling them, including auctioning on eBay.
Last I checked, there were some outrageous domain auctions on eBay, such as sendtaxi.com with a price-tag of $20 million. Whoever is selling that domain for $20 million should be committed to an institution. The most expensive domain ever sold was Gambling.com for $20 million. No one would ever pay that much for sendtaxi.com.
A domain auction house like Sedo is a much more targeted venue to sell high-profile domains. In the next few weeks, we will start auctioning our domains through them.
I will keep you posted on how our domain sales go. In the meantime, check out DailyDomainer.com. They are a great source of up-to-date news on domains and recent sales. They provide a free newsletter in which they feature a “domain appraisal of the day.”

Please keep us updated about your successes. I haven’t had much luck with Sedo, but that was about a year ago. Most of my domain name sales have been private sales but would love the hear about a good sales venue!
Good to hear, I think 250,000 is a little bit to much for those marketing domains, but who knows… end user magic is unpredictable
1 of my domains ends in les than 24 hours on sedo. it is at 400 eur now, not that great compared with other sales at sedo. Nice to see another passionate blogger that also deals in domains
Any suggestions for selling a .cn (China) domain name?
