Time For A Vacation

Time For A Vacation + Announcement

This weekend I am going to take some time off and fly to San Diego to hang out with my family. I am originally from Washington state, but my grandparents live in San Diego, so we have vacationed there ever since I have been little. Now that I live in Arizona, the flight to San Diego is only an hour compared to the 3-hour flight from Seattle.

My parents still live in Washington, so San Diego is a good meeting point for us. I haven’t taken a vacation or seen my family in about five months so this will be a nice break.

I am not sure how many people have used the Wordpress Post Timestamp feature, but I am setting this post to go live about the same time that my plane takes off. The cool thing about the Timestamp feature is that if you ever go on vacation, you can post-date articles so they will still go live even if you are away from the blog. It’s pretty cool and I recommend you try it sometime.

June Goals

Now that we are almost done with June, have you accomplished the goals you set earlier this month? One of my goals was to hit 400 RSS subscribers. I was at 300 at the beginning of the month. I am happy to say that I have met that goal.

Another one of my goals was to develop 500 landing page web sites. We ended up changing out game plan on that so now our goal is to develop these web sites for quality instead of quantity. This will be a much more profitable business plan.

General Announcement

I have an announcement I have been meaning to share with you for awhile, but I think I will just go ahead and say it now: I have been seriously considering starting a podcast over the past month. I am happy to announce that next month, my biz partner, Josh and I will start a weekly radio podcast.

The podcasts will be 7-10 minutes long. We will use it to talk about our thoughts, feelings, successes, failures, and progress as young entrepreneurs. Another very general topic we will talk a lot about is the power of using your blog as a marketing tool for yourself and your business. Are there any other particular topics you would like us talk about?

I have always believed in doing whatever it takes to stand out from the crowd. It is getting more and more common that people have blogs, but there is still a very small number of bloggers that use audio or video to further engage their readers. Podcasting seems like a great way to stand out from the crowd. Eventually, I would also like to have a weekly video cast, sort of like what Rick Uyesugi of Bento Box Review does.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Have a great vacation. You, me, and most of my office will all be on vacation at the same time. However, I’ll be living it up on the beach of sunny FLA!

I think the podcasts would be a great direction. I’d love to do that as well, however, I always wonder if my voice will sound funny! :)

Funny you should mention this. I’m off on vacation next week and I thought I would try this out for the first time. I’ve just lined up two posts to publish next week.

San Diego is great place to vacation. Have fun and good luck with the podcasts.

I’ll be interested to see what happens with the modified plan for the 500 sites. Even if you cut the number down to a dozen, it’s still a lot of work. Enjoy the holiday and totally forget about computers and the internet for a while. Truly relax.

I’m really looking forward to the podcast. Will it be the kind of thing I would have to be online for at a specific time, or will you keep archives?

How’s that vacation going, Nate? I have heard of these “vacations”, but haven’t taken one in a long time…

Nate…I’m headed on vacation on Saturday, July 7th. As for your podcast, that’s cool. I’d love to hear about the equipment that you are using to pull it off.

Hey Angie, no, it will not be live. It will be pre-recorded on a weekly basis with my business partner Josh. We will touch on topics such as, well, business, blog, personal, and web development. So, yes, there will be archives. We are going to be doing some initial podcast recordings this weekend.
